Three reasons why you should be in photos with your pets
One thing you are going to notice this year is I will be focusing more on photographing pets with their people. You. You are their people. I am often asked if my clients can be in the photos with their pets. The answer is YES! The answer will always be YES!
I discussed in an earlier post why I wanted to get photos with my dogs, you can read the post here. I cherish the time I have with Lance and Lili. And as they slow down in life, I want to freeze each day and make it last longer, hoping for more time with them.
Three reasons why you should be in professional pet photos with your pet
1- It’s hard to take a great selfie with you and your dog.
I pull out my phone all the time to take daily snapshots with Lance and Lili. But the hardest ones for me to take are the ones I take of us together.
Holy nostrils, Batman!
In one of my many attempts to take photos with Lance, I ended up a slightly out of focus with a great shot of my nostrils. It’s a photo that will remain in the archives of Lance, because he’s so adorable, but is it anything that would end up as wall art? Nope. No one wants to see my nostrils!!!!
No nostrils!
This is a photo taken from one of our photo sessions. You can see the both of us and you see the connection Lance and I share with one another. The best part….the focus is where it should be, on Lance and me, having a good day together and this is a photo I would gladly hang for everyone to see.
Selfies aren’t easy with your pets. Let me show you how I can take great images of the two of you.
2- You have a story to share.
Whether your dog has been with you since you were a child or you knew they were the one when you went to an adoption event a couple of years ago, you and your dog have a story. Let’s photograph your story and capture what makes your relationship unique. Do you like to wear matching sweaters with your dog? Do you have a special way to greet your dog when you come home from work? Is there a special toy you play tug with?
When we have your consultation, part of the process is to find out more about you and your pet and pick the perfect location for your session. In studio or at your favorite location with your dog, we will tell you story.
I travel throughout Loudoun County, Northern Virginia, and the Washington, DC metro area to take professional pet portraits of pets and their people. If you live outside the DC metro area and would like a session, we can make something work.
When these two showed up at the studio wearing matching shirts, I knew we had to photograph them together.
Are you a bit camera shy? I have plenty of ways where we can still tell your story without your face being front and canter.
In the photo without being in the photo.
3-Pets and their people portraits end up as client favorites!
Rarely do I have a client who doesn’t end up with at least a couple portraits with their pets in them. As a photographer who photographs many senior or ill pets, the photos with their pets are often the most cherished images a client will select.
