Working with a Professional Pet Photographer

Your pet portrait experience

The Process

1. Planning Meet and Greet

Once your session is booked, we’ll meet at your home or at the studio to plan the when and what of your pup’s big day. This step is optional, but I recommend it because it helps your dog feel more comfortable and lets us work out the best details together.

2. Personalized Portrait Session

Your dog is the star. We’ll go at her pace with laughs, treats, toys, squeakers, and belly rubs to help her relax. The result is natural, joyful images that show her true spirit.

3. Choose Your New Artwork!

One to two weeks later, we’ll meet again to review a gallery of 25 to 30 images and design the artwork that fits your home best, whether that is desk art, wall art, or a keepsake album.

The Details

  • Sessions include up to two household pets. Additional pets are $25 each.

  • The $225 session fee covers studio time. Artwork is purchased separately, starting at $645. Each piece comes with a matching watermarked social sharing file. There is no minimum purchase. Many families invest in a mix of desk art, wall art, and albums to enjoy their pup’s story throughout their home.

  • Legacy sessions are the exception. These heartfelt sessions can take place in the studio, at your home, at your dog’s favorite park, or in another meaningful spot. They are created to honor the love and memories you share.

Studio Sessions-$225

Welcome to our Ashburn, VA residential studio, where your dog gets to shine. Whether you love a clean, modern look or something more timeless, we’ll choose from a variety of backdrops to match the vision we create during your planning session.

Inside the studio, it is all about your pup. No squirrels to chase and no rain to spoil the fun. Just tail wags, goofy grins, plenty of treats, belly rubs, and maybe a little slobber on the lens. The studio is designed for wagging tails, silly faces, and big personalities, all turned into artwork you’ll love seeing every day.

We’ve also made the space easy for everyone to enjoy. There are only a couple of steps into the main studio, and for dogs who cannot do stairs, we have a ground-level setup ready for them.

Studio sessions are available year-round and created to give you artwork that makes you smile every single time you see it.

Please note: Custom sessions do not include digitals or artwork.

For beloved seniors and dogs facing serious illness, Legacy sessions are the most tender and meaningful of all.

These sessions receive priority scheduling, unlimited time, and either a complimentary 8x10" metal desk print or the option to apply your session fee toward artwork that best fits your home.

Your dog leads the way. If home is where they’re happiest, that’s where I’ll be. If their favorite park still brings them joy, we’ll meet there. If the studio feels like the right fit, we can meet here in Ashburn.

Every Legacy session is a tribute to a legacy of love, laughter, and memories, captured in the places that mean the most to you both. They are about honoring the love you share and honoring the bond that will always stay with you.

Travel and permit fees may apply.

Your Dog is the Star!

My dog had SO much fun at our session!”

It is one of the highest compliments I get from clients.

Your dog, after all, is the star of the show. That does not mean she’ll find a bowl of diva-level green M&M’s waiting. What she will find is a pocket full of dog friendly treats, lots of toys and belly rubs, and plenty of encouragement to make the experience fun.

Your dog’s comfort is my number one priority. A happy, relaxed dog means you can relax too, and it also means natural, joyful images for you to cherish for years to come.

My dog-first approach means we always go at your pet’s pace, with plenty of breaks, games, and positive reinforcement. Because every dog is different, I reserve at least two full hours for your portrait session.

And if your pup just is not feeling it that day, that’s okay. We’ll stop the session, make adjustments, and we can reschedule if needed, with no additional fees.

“My 2 year old dog and I had so much fun completing a photo shoot at this studio. Lynn was easy to work with and Baxter felt all the love. As a result I had wonderful shots to choose from and can't wait to display the photos. Highly recommend.”

Frequently Asked Questions

  • You bet! Your dog is welcome to wander around the studio. Most pets want to explore their new surroundings, and will eventually settle down. But even if your dog is rowdy throughout the session, no worries. I have plenty of tricks up my sleeve to get his attention and capture beautiful photographs.

  • Not a problem. I always follow the leash laws of your local jurisdiction. Plus, your pet's safety is of the utmost importance. So unless we're in a secure, enclosed space, your dog will stay on a leash during her session. Whenever possible, leashes will be Photoshopped out of your final edited images.

  • Absolutely. Some pets take longer than others to warm up to people, and that's totally okay! Our Planning Meet-and-Greet is my "first date" with your dog, so he can start to get comfortable around me. When it's time for your session, I'll take it slowly and make sure your pup feels at ease before we begin. Patience is key!

  • Yes! I’ll photograph them separately at first, so each dog has some time to shine in the spotlight. After that, I’ll photograph your pets together. And if they’re not on board with that plan? I’ll use the sneaky magic of Photoshop to create a beautiful composite image of your dogs together.

  • Absolutely! I definitely encourage you to be in at least a few photos with your pets. They’re your best friends, so let’s showcase the bond you share. Often my clients’ favorite images are the candid photos I take when they’re connecting with their dogs.
