Session Spotlight: Dog Photography at Franklin Park

***Outdoor sessions are only offered for Legacy sessions.***

The benefit to living in Loudoun county is the abundance of parks and outdoor spaces we have for photo sessions. Nestled off of Route 7 on the outskirts of Purcellville, VA is Franklin Park. Franklin Park offers beautiful views of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Please note all photos were photographed with Thor on leash and were edited out.

Franklin Park is also a great place for dogs who need space from other dogs.

This was the perfect location for Thor’s session. Thor’s a 9 year old black lab who has lived with his family since he was a puppy and adopted while his humans were on a trip to New York. And because Thor is bonded with his dad, he was the one who accompanied Thor during his session.

Franklin Park has over 200 acres of land and offers many different backdrops for a session. When I plan an outdoor session, I like to photograph at a number of locations within the location to give my clients a variety of backdrops to choose from for their final images.

We started our session off by the Franklin Park dog park. There is a large field there and the spot gets great afternoon light. Thor was more than happy to pose for treats and a chance to spend time playing with his guardian, James.

Thor will look at the camera for delicious treats.

The clouds made for a dramatic portrait of Thor.

We then proceeded to go over by the gazebo and capture the last of the blossoms of the season.

Thor looks majestic with the sun hitting his fur.

Our last spot, before the sun hid behind the Blue Ridge Mountains was to go up a hill and take some photos in front of the sports field. Through the magic of Photoshop, I was able to remove the field lights and create a silhouette capturing Thor and James.

Catching the last bit of sun for the night.
